About CFTDA

  • Please take a few minutes and look the SFM website under STEAC and look at the Company Officer and Chief Officer Drafts of the new Certification Training Standards.  Send any comments to Dan Coffman or myself.  There will be a conference call next week to vote on the Company Officer CTS so if you are interested look at it as soon as possible.

The CTSs are not written to classes but to tasks a company officer is required to do.  After the CTSs are adopted THEN classes will be developed to meet the new standards.  Some of the old classes may fit very well and some will not. Let us know your thoughts.

  • Information on the upcoming CFTDA Meeting in Santa Maria September 13-14 is below, and Aprils Meeting Minutes and the tentative agenda for the September meeting are attached.  If you have any items for the agenda, let me know by August 15th at dancoffman@aol.com. • This years FESHE meeting was excellent, Ronnie Coleman was the opening speaker, as he started to talk about fire service history a four member drum and fifer band came playing and marching in to the auditorium. Just about the time you thought it couldn't much better than this a Ben Franklin impersonator came walking in from up top. Chief Coleman and Ben Franklin went on to talk about the fire service history, it was really quit a treat. We had the largest turnout ever 160 attendees representing colleges from all over the United States and Canada. CFTDA was well represented with about fifteen folks from California colleges. IAFESHE is up and running, Tim Capehart gave a presentation on IAFESHE incorporation, 501-3C non-profit status, and the checking account, Tim went on to talk about board vacancies, later that night a vote was taken, and  we now have a completed board, voting in three new board positions. One of the new positions filled was that of our own Natalie Hannum, from Riverside College, Congratulations Natalie. More details to come.
